It’s unfortunate that the majority of all teens think it is perfectly fine to send text messages while they are driving. States within the United States are cracking down on the act, however, by implementing new laws that regulate or ban the act completely.
Since there is no federal law that says texting while driving is a punishable crime, each state has to individually create and pass legislation to regulate it. Some states such as Washington have banned the act of texting completely. Other states have made it a rule that you have to be a certain age, often 21, before you can legally text and drive.
Missouri is an example of a state that has allowed those over the age of 21 to partake in texting while driving. It’s uncertain to see what type of impact this has as compared to states that have banned the act altogether, as most legislation is somewhat new. If you are caught texting while driving, or it is shown you have stated you were doing so, you can be fined for $200 under the Missouri regulation and laws.
There are studies that are coming out all the time in regards to texting and driving. Some scientists have even shown that it is quite related to the acted of driving under the influence, which as we know carries a large fine and jail sentence for those convicted. Because it is so serious, parents in the United States should observe good parenting practices by teaching their kids not to use their mobile phone while operating a car.
The same technology that allowed texting and driving could also remedy the problem. Mobile phones are now implementing software that can detect voice and translate it into words of text. This operation is far from perfect, however, so it is not widely used today. Other solutions are in development by mobile phone companies, who know that their products are being used to contribute to unsafe driving behaviors.
If you text and drive, it would be smart to find smarter solutions. Sometimes just having a conversation with the individual you need to contact via phone is better. In that case, you save time and also don’t endanger yourself by having to constantly look at your mobile phone. Sometimes even this isn’t a solution, as some states frown upon even talking on the phone while driving. Unless its an emergency, you are better off just not using the phone.
Final Thoughts
In the end, United States citizens should just practice common sense when talking and texting. Driving while doing anything other than paying attention to the road is going to be dangerous. Limit dangerous acts so that you won’t have a wrecked car and a disaster to deal with.

Programs that are meant for engineering professionals never are easy to learn- but practice makes perfect! Packet Tracer is a good example of a tough program released by Cisco, of which even making a small computer network can pose a challenge.
Two computers that are connected through a router are actually on separate networks if properly configured. Having a computer communicate another on a different network is a complex process, but Packet Tracer makes it easy to setup the design and configuration. In about 10-15 minutes, the most basic of all networks can be constructed and working.
Constructing the network will take two crossover cables and a console cable. The two crossover cables will connect each desktop to the Ethernet ports of the router, while the console cable will connect one of the computers to the router for configuring. Be sure that the cable you are using isn’t a straight-through when using your Ethernet cable, as this type of cable is reserved for unlike devices.
Each of the computers on the network will need an IP address for routing information from one network to another. You will also have to assign an IP address to each Ethernet port of the router. The Ethernet port connected to a single desktop machine will share the same network address, but will have a different host address. There will be two separate networks; one on each of the Ethernet ports. The IP address you assign may not be a reserved number or duplicated among ports.
After configuring the IP addresses, you will need to configure what is called a gateway address. The gateway address is simply the IP address of the Ethernet port that a computer is connected to. The gateway tells a computer where to send and receive information that comes across the network. This address is edited on the desktop in the IP address settings. Without it, information would never reach its target destination.
Troubleshooting is what computer network technicians are known for. If you find that your network isn’t working at this point, you shouldn’t be surprised. There are hundreds of reasons a network can go wrong, ranging from physical connections to input errors. The trick is to troubleshoot the symptoms of the network to see where you went wrong and how to fix it. Try to complete the troubleshooting process by yourself, as it will be more of a meaningful lesson for the future.
Final Thoughts
A basic network is easy to setup in theory, but harder to actually create. Confusing Cisco IOS commands and problems such as a faulty cable is enough to give anyone a hard time. Internet tutorials and troubleshooting tactics are a good solution if you have hit a stumbling block.

A business will outsource part of its operations to another business in order to save time or money- or perhaps both. In the case of IT outsourcing, a business lets their technology be handled by another business entirely- freeing them of hardware and employment costs.
When a business outsources their IT department, they are also outsourcing the need for a security team. Without security, and presence the company has on the Internet could be in danger from defacing or intrusion. When another company signs on to meet your needs, they are also verifying they are competent in defending the network that they intend on managing.
How much would it cost to have your own IT department? From what statistics show, you could be paying $50,000 and up per person on staff. Thus, it would be wise to outsource your needs to another company that can do it for much less. While you may not have a physical staff on hand, you will get the same benefits of hiring the very same team at a lesser price.
Any large website has a data backup system in place. Even with the best security systems in place, you can bet that the data can still become corrupt or fail once hardware does. It isn’t a matter if it will happen, but a question of when. Data backup is costly to buy and maintain, so most businesses like to outsource it. Periodic backups will save an utter loss of data when disaster does strike, and should not be avoided.
Perhaps most invaluable to a business is the expertise computer network specialists provide. With outsourcing your IT department, you get unlimited access to support. Thus, you can do all of the actions required to build a network with a single person with instruction via phone. Once a network is setup, it can be run remotely so that you will never have to touch it again. Instead, the company outsourced to will handle all troubleshooting.
Since you are outsourcing, you have a limitless supply of options available to you. Companies all around the world could, theoretically, take on the tasks you need handled. Don’t feel limited to your immediate area, but rather investigate opportunities in other countries or around the globe. You may find that the best prices come from companies that operate in places such as China, India, or other eastern civilizations.
Final Thoughts
Saving time and money through outsourcing is nothing new. In fact, this practice has been popular for decades and running. When another service can handle your needs at a price that can’t be beat, it’s only logical to accept the offer and reap the rewards.

With the focus on learning shifting to the Internet, we are seeing colleges around the United States put more weight into Internet technologies. Accredited programs recognized by approved colleges are now making it easier than ever before for time-starved consumers to get their education.
As far as Internet courses go, Dartmouth is one of the least expensive. Dartmouth is a prestiged university located in the eastern United States. Dartmouth has a strong course listing, ranging from nursing to information technologies. Dartmouth is also a big name in universities, so employers will like to see the name on a resume. Although expensive, the degree at the end of the road is well worth it.
DeVry University is another great option that puts more focus on their online course offerings, although there are physical locations all around the United States. DeVry is more geared towards those who wish to major in science, even if only indirectly. Health science, computer science, mathematics, and business administration are all strong points of DeVry programs that can be learned using the Internet.
The University of Phoenix, based all around the United States, is another accredited option worth looking into. The University of Phoenix is known for its strong business and accounting programs. Even doctorate programs are available online in addition to the associates and bachelor’s degrees that most aim for. The tuition rates vary per program, but typically range from $300 to $800 per credit hour. Note that most classes are around the $300 range in pricing.
Even if you haven’t heard of Kaplan, you may have used them indirectly. They are famous for syndicating test taking material, books, and software to be used for certification exams. Because of their specialty in test preparation, they make for a wonderful university to consider. Although expensive at around $50,000 and up for a bachelor’s degree, it’s a degree that is respected in the industry. Kaplan is a school for students who know they can succeed, and just need a responsible school to open the door for them.
The courses at Brandman University are centered around business administration. Marketing, human resources, and information systems management are key courses that Brandman University offers online students. The scope of the program even covers international business- a hot topic today as countries start working together to form joint ventures. Brandman University keeps tuition at around $500 each credit hour. While expensive, the business program is rivaled by few in the education industry.
Final Thoughts
There are plenty of colleges offering accredited programs. It will be a task in itself just to find a university you would like to go to. Try online demos of Internet course programs and see if you think it’d be something you could devote your time and money to.

If you can’t convey your thoughts in writing while using the English language, you may find it hard to pass off as a genuine intellect to others you come into contact with. Learning English grammar is important in proving your intelligence, and there are many tests of such intelligence to be aware of.
The most common of all grammar mistakes in the English language is, without a doubt, the different between “your” and “you are.” When spelled out, it doesn’t seem like it’s hard to distinguish the two. But when you use the contraction “you’re” there can be some confusion. Any time you read “you’re” imagine you are reading “you are” instead to see if it fits. “Your” shows possession, while “you’re” doesn’t.
Probably the second most common mistake in grammar is “there” being confused with “their.” The word “their” shows possession, while “there” is indicating a location. If your neighbors own a pool, you would say “The neighbors often swim in their pool,” and use there as “Sometimes I swim over there.”
Sometimes even the professionals can get tripped up on the proper usage of some words. “Effect” and “affect” is a pair of words that tend to do this. When you use the two words, always remember that “affect” is going to be a verb, and it will do action in a sentence, such as “Germs affect health.” On the other hand we have “effect,” which is a noun or adjective, and is used in a case such as “The effect of being sick is missing school or work.”
When those who are foreign to the English language start to make their efforts in learning it, the biggest stumbling block is when to use “a” and when to use “an.” The word “an” is used before a word that sounds like a vowel- which seems easy enough to see at first. The problem is that some words such as “hour” don’t appear to require the word “an” until it is pronounced. It takes a lot of practice, but practice does make perfect.
The American youth typically get the difference between “good” and “well” wrong. If asked how you are feeling, and you wish to convey you are doing well, you do not say “I am doing good.” Instead you would say “I am doing well,” since well is a noun, while “good” is an adjective. Obviously the context would be out of place.
In Conclusion
Practice English grammar all you can, and your efforts will pay off. It will take a fair amount of time to get all of it down. But once you do, you will appear intelligent and will be able to converse with others without having to sacrifice your self image in the process.

As soon as you purchase your dedicated server, you should start looking into methods of securing it and browsing any security policies already put into place. You wouldn’t want someone to erase your pride and joy in life, so doing so is important even despite the lack of fun it may be.
Your security plan starts right away. Don’t lose any time in determining who you want to give direct access to your server, and who shouldn’t have access at all. Next determine how users of your web site will need to access your server. Allow and deny permissions to files and directories to correspond with the rights you want them to have- whether it be to read, write, modify, or execute files.
Stay up to date on your modules that you load onto the server. An example would be with the PHP module that allows a server to run PHP code. Every so often, there will be security exploits found out that are solved through a new release of the module. By staying up to date on patches, you will avoid the destruction of your server through careless administration.
The languages you support will be your down fall if you don’t know how to code in them. Languages are so powerful that you can easily delete your entire website with a single line of code, depending on which language you are using. Obviously there should be security measures in place to not allow regular website users to execute such code. Something such as the SQL injection is something to avoid.
Go through every module that your server runs. If you don’t use it, or don’t think you will use it in the future, it’s best to remove it. Always check your research to see whether or not the module you are viewing is necessary for your server to operate. Doing this will ensure that a user won’t make use of a security exploit in a module you aren’t monitoring, and thus don’t have a patch for due to the lack of attention paid to the module.
A back up of your files and database will be the cure for when something does go wrong- and odds are it will. You don’t even have to go face to face with a bad user to have this happen- a simple accident of deleting something can turn your entire server awry. It’s best to back up on a regular basis, such as every Friday, to keep up the routine and not slack off on this vital part to your server administration.

Your home computer connects you to thousands of other resources once you connect to the Internet- which is great for sharing and learning information. Unfortunately at the same time you could be sacrificing your privacy in the process. Using certain programs will ensure you keep your sense of privacy.
Cookies are used in web development to store information about a user. It’s useful for a login feature that remembers your log in details, for instance. Cookies can also be used to track the websites you visit and other vital information you wouldn’t want to share with just anyone. Cookies can be manually deleted, but having a program do so at regular intervals is easier. In addition, such programs are free or inexpensive.
Your IP address, which stands for Internet Protocol, is the number that is assigned to your computer. The IP address is used to map where you are and who you are according to that data. IP addresses have been used in good situations such as tracking illegal file sharing, but has also been used in privacy-demeaning instances. Hiding the IP address through proxy programs is the best bet for keeping private.
Even connecting to a network not connected to the Internet can prove risky to your situation. A network that is connected and allows others to connect at will should be considered high risk, since others can ping your computer and look for security holes if the proper measures aren’t in place. Security hole scanners are also a good idea for network administrators if you happen to be one.
Local files are stored each time you visit a website so that you can come back alter and enjoy a quick load. Browsing history is another popular Internet browser function that needs to be erased for optimal privacy. Both things can be erased quickly by privacy software. Otherwise you would have to manually do so each and every time you use the Internet or view a website. Programs today can wipe the files clean each time you close your browser.
Stealth port technology exists to act as a buffer between you and would-be attackers. Stealth port technology simply hides ports that are otherwise easily scanned. Hiding ports from a scan will protect your details from being found out, which could lead to a possible attack if you have vulnerabilities in your current machine. Staying up to date on security updates is always good, but stealth port technology is equally so.

Internet servers are classified according to how they function and the features they are able to support. As a webmaster you should already be familiar with the types of Internet servers so that you can pick a cost-effective option for your websites. In addition, picking the wrong server type could prove to be a handicap.
The entry-level server type is shared hosting. Shared hosting puts you on a server with anywhere from a few to large amount of other webmasters. The main reason you would go for shared hosting is because it is insanely cheap. At the same time, having other webmasters on the server means you could have downtime associated with problems with other websites on the server.
Some applications will demand you have more access to your server than what a shared hosting server allows. In that case a Virtual Private Server, or VPS, is a small upgrade that isn’t going to require you to pay too much more money each period. If you have your own dedicated server, you may even consider sanctioning a portion of your system resources to a VPS so that you can run a different operating system.
The final upgrade is more expensive, but offers the freedom of a VPS and the hardware upgrades that you will no doubt need if your websites become popular. Dedicated servers usually start around $100 each month and only rise from there, depending on the hardware you decide to side with. It can be hard to stomach, but it’s nice to have your own server to yourself.
Some web hosts also offer something called a reseller hosting plan. Don’t be confused, technically every server type could be a reseller hosting plan. You are granted access to a Web Host Manager, or WHM, that allows you to allot different accounts to different limits of bandwidth and disk space usage. It’s unlikely to see such a thing on shared environments, but VPS and dedicated servers will often have this by default.
The hierarchy of servers would seem to be shared hosting, virtual private servers, and then finally dedicated servers. That’s not always the case, but it’s generally what you will notice. You can get inexpensive dedicated servers cheaper than a VPS, and sometimes shared hosting can be more reliable than an unmanaged dedicated server. What it really comes down to is what the host you obtain the server from allows and at what price.

It’s come to the point that hackers and security companies are continually playing a game of cat and mouse. You wouldn’t want to be caught in the middle of the war without a program that is able to guard your computer against attacks, so it is useful to become educated on the options in security software such as Ad-Aware Pro.
The Pro version of Ad-Aware has some benefits over other versions, but mostly the differences are going to be useful for administrators and the technology-oriented personalities. Things such as a command line interface and special networking scanning tools would be of good use to a business environment, but less likely to be used by the average computer owner.
The marketing some websites make use of today is horrendous. Pop-up advertisements are a good example of such an annoyance, and thankfully Ad-Aware Pro is able to get rid of them without any further cost to the software owner. The built in pop-up blocker has performed quite well in tests; getting rid of the advertisements and of course allowing popup applications that weren’t ads.
The major selling point of Ad-Aware 2009 is the fact that it can stop malware from installing itself before it even gets a chance to infect a computer. This functionality, known as real time protection, can help save your computer against malware that would otherwise cause havoc and potentially ruin your computer. Best yet, the protection gets stronger every day as more types of malware are identified and blocked against.
So far the general perception of Ad-Aware Pro has been good. Nothing is perfect, and while Ad-Aware has some great selling points it also has some areas it could improve on. One instance is with the technical support. Lavasoft did a great job on providing documentation, but they skipped out on hiring employees to provide the technical support customers need. Getting technical support is still possible, just expect your questions to be answered slower than normal.
There are other programs to consider in your purchase decision. You will notice in your comparison that Ad-Aware is of the higher priced programs. It also is more geared towards the technical-savvy in some applications. The extra benefits the program provides the user is worth the price to some, but only if the lack of support isn’t something that isn’t going to bother you. You are able to try it for free among some download mirrors.

Your computer can be many things, and a television is certainly one of them. By using your computer as a television, you are able to enjoy large cost cutting bonuses, a freedom to watch your television shows anywhere at all, and of course the unlimited access to entertainment. Better yet, it’s easy to setup.
The legitimate means of watching television with your computer is done through a computer program or an online service. The service or program will cost an initial fee, and if you find the right service, you will be entitled to free updates and you will not have to pay a recurring subscription fee. Looking at it this way, a one-time expense can pay for itself years time and time again.
Cable providers and satellite salesmen like to trick people into a “deal” that really forces them to buy an expensive set of hardware in order to get television shows. Hardware can also be extremely expensive if it should ever break, especially if the warranty ends. You will save money by watching television with your computer, since it won’t require any extra hardware at all.
You don’t have to stay immobile with your television shows. By all means, put the program on your laptop and take it everywhere with you! So long as you have access to a wireless acess point or satellite Internet, you will be able to watch television shows anywhere you want. Long trips in the car can now suddenly become much more entertaining with the software.
One of the biggest complaints users have of watching television with their computer is that they don’t like sitting in a constant position, staring at a small computer screen. Cables are available, such as the S-Video cable, that can be used to connect your computer or laptop to a real television. That way you are watching real television shows on your own TV- without the subscription or expensive hardware normally associated with the process.
When you finally decide that you are fine with a computer program replacing your expensive cable TV provider, you should take your time and find a service that works best for what you want. Not all programs will have the same services, and they will be different prices depending on which service you buy. Make an educated decision and think ahead for the future.
Final Thoughts
Television shouldn’t be so expensive. After all, we aren’t always able to watch television a lot when our schedules get filled up. Instead you should go the more sensible route and opt for an online television service that doesn’t require a subscription for the television shows you want to watch.
